Accounting & Computer Technician

Responsible for daily accounting operations in an extremely high volume office. Reconciled cash, insured statements, bank statements, cash receipts, invoicing, cash disbursements and collections. Reviewed and researched statements for Accuracy. Worked closely with the underwriting staff regarding the results of this research. Corresponded with insured’s, brokers and finance companies to Collect and/or return premiums.

Supported 50+ computer users with daily issues. Which included PC maintenance, Printer maintenance, updates, reimaged machines, and replaced nic cards, video Cards, hardware maintenance and end user support. Responsible for daily back-ups and virus updates.
Reconciled various expenditure reports to source documents.
Reviewed procurement documents and invoices for accuracy.
Prepared routine entries and posted financial transactions.
Reconciled entries and internal ledgers to financial system reports.
Assisted in preparation of financial statements.

* Excellent written & verbal communication skills
* Computer skills must include intermediate to advanced Excel, as well as intermediate Word and Outlook

* Self-motivation and a “Get It Done” attitude * Must possess a strong sense of urgency & ability to meet tight month end deadlines
* Accounting degree required OR 5+ years of Insurance Agency Accounting Experience
* IT and/or HR experience/skills a plus

QuickBooks Pro experience in accounts payable and journal entry modules
*Accounts Payable-invoice administration (collection, research, payment preparation)
*Receiving and preparing local payables for processing
*Collecting and tracking received invoices, researching prior payments, researching outstanding balances, and ensuring proper managerial approval is received for all goods and services
*Verifying pricing, freight, and sales tax with purchasing warehouse functions
*Responding to vendor calls regarding payment status, vendor services, and invoice discrepncy resolution
*Working with corporate accounting function to resolve invoice descrepancies
*Completing various administrative functions-copying, scanning, filing, preparing check requests, establishing vendor files, etc....
*Proficiency in supporting a Microsoft Network, MS Office, and Outlook products is required
*Student working towards degree in applicable field or prior years of applicable work experience is a plus
