Marketed big-ticket home improvement items. Successful as outside salesman making in-home sales presentations and arranged installation of products such as central heating and air conditioning equipment, roofing, fencing, windows and doors, insulation, and kitchen remodeling. Prepared sales and installation contracts at point of sale. Result: Closed outside sales opportunities with a single in-home appointment and became the top sales producer of maintenance agreement sales for our location.

Co-Managed the conversion of a large retail operation from manual inventory control to a computerized inventory system. Transferred information from manual process to the computer database and performed complete inventory of existing merchandise. Results: Computerization created the ability to capture sales history, forecast needs and balancing of the inventory.

Coordinated activities between sales and claims departments. After a major storm in the market area, the agency was inundated with claims. Worked with the Regional claims office and established a temporary field claim office in my location. Results: Adjusters were able to schedule twice as many appointments resulting in more rapid settlements and increased customer satisfaction.

Managed retail home improvement category consisting of hardware, paint, plumbing and installed home improvement items. Responsibilities include: scheduling and training of 20 employees, sales, inventory, and merchandising. Member of team, which traveled to set-up new, stores and remodel existing stores. Result: Received promotion and transfer to a higher volume retail store.


Successfully managed home improvement category by maintaining a balanced inventory, maximizing gross profit, and exceeding sale budgets. Result: Of the five years I managed in Killeen, Texas, I was division manager of the year twice and runner-up twice.

Established and managed my own agency. Developed business plans detailing sales budgets and expense forecasts. Implemented marketing strategy that targeted the market segment in which my company had the greatest competitive advantage. Results: Increased business from one policy to over 1500 generating over $800,000 in gross annual sales and $330,000 in profit.

Developed and implemented marketing strategy to increase client retention. Established a program consisting of three positive contacts per year. Contacted customers prior to renewal to discuss any changes in the upcoming renewal period.

Maintained a file on all clients detailing birthdays, holiday greetings and pertinent newspaper articles concerning their families. Results: Increased retention of customer base by 92.7% and generation of multi-line clientele.
