Provided patient care in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit, including neurotrauma and neurosurgical and Medical Respiratory Intensive Care Unit. Cross-trained in recovery room, short stay surgery and emergency room.

Nurse Manager September 1991-January 1994

Responsible for 24 hour total operations of a 20 bed Surgical-Trauma and Open Heart Intensive Care Unit and for one year also responsible for an 8 bed Cardiac Care Unit.

Hired and managed over 90 staff members (up to 70 FTEs). Prepared, managed, and monitored a 3 million dollar budget. Monitored staff performance and conducted yearly performance reviews.

Facilitated all new products to the critical care service. Participated in committee work such as, Continuous Quality Improvement, Shared Governance, New Products Standardization, Charting by Exception, Trauma QI Review and Organ and Tissue Donation.


Critical Care Supervisor, September 1990-July 1991
Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach, CA

Day Shift supervisor for Surgical-Trauma, Medical-Respiratory and Cardiac Care Intensive Care Units, as well as, Extended Critical Care Unit.

Was responsible for 76 beds; provided patient care as needed.

Critical Care Registered Nurse October 1987-April 1990
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Torrance, CA

Provided patient care in a Neurosurgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit. Acted as charge nurse, participated and was a speaker for Critical Care Grand Rounds 1988 and 1989.
